01 / From question to perspective

Don’t just get an answer.
Find a way to think about it.

A book can give your question a new frame. Your AI finds a useful perspective, explores the notes, and brings the source into the conversation.

Why do our quick fixes keep creating new problems?

  1. 1
    Find a useful lenssearch_books

    Search “systems” to discover Thinking in Systems by Donella H. Meadows.

  2. 2
    Go deeper into one bookchat_with_book

    Ask how feedback can explain the pattern, grounded in the book’s published notes.

  3. 3
    Follow the source

    Inspect the concepts behind the answer. A balancing loop, for example, acts against change to move a system toward a goal.

03 / Make the connection

Your library.
Your favorite AI.

Add the server once, then bring a book’s perspective into your everyday work.

Before you begin

You’ll need an access token supplied privately by the service operator. Access is currently operator-provisioned.

Keep your token in your client’s local configuration or secret storage. You never need to enter it on this page.

Connection questions?
Server URL · Streamable HTTP

01Claude CodeTerminal

Make your access token available as WISDOMBOOSTERS_MCP_TOKEN in your shell. Then run this command. It registers the server in your personal Claude Code configuration.

Shell
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user wisdomboosters \
  https://mcp.wisdomboosters.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $WISDOMBOOSTERS_MCP_TOKEN"

Open Claude Code and use /mcp to check the connection. Keep your local configuration private: the command stores the resolved token there.

02CodexCLI & editor

Make your token available as WISDOMBOOSTERS_MCP_TOKEN in the environment that starts Codex. Register the server with:

Shell
codex mcp add wisdomboosters \
  --url https://mcp.wisdomboosters.com/mcp \
  --bearer-token-env-var WISDOMBOOSTERS_MCP_TOKEN

Restart your Codex session after configuring the server. The token variable must be available to the running client; a desktop app may not inherit your terminal environment.

03CursorEditor

Add this server to your personal ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Make WISDOMBOOSTERS_MCP_TOKEN available to the environment that launches Cursor.

    "wisdomboosters": {
      "url": "https://mcp.wisdomboosters.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:WISDOMBOOSTERS_MCP_TOKEN}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Enable the server in Cursor’s MCP settings. If you already have other servers, merge this entry into your existing mcpServers object.

04VS CodeEditor

Open “MCP: Open User Configuration” from the Command Palette and add this configuration. VS Code will prompt for your token instead of placing it in the file.

}

Start the server from VS Code’s MCP controls. Merge the servers and inputs entries if your configuration already contains other servers.

A little grounding goes a long way

Ideas worth checking.
Sources you can return to.

The library is made of structured, published book notes. A citation gives you a place to look, question, and keep reading. The thinking is still yours.

Step inside the library

04 / A few useful details

Before you
turn the page.

Do I need to run a server?

No. wisdomboosters.com hosts the service. You need an MCP client that supports remote Streamable HTTP, the server URL, and an access token supplied by the service operator.

What can I search?

search_books searches book titles, authors, and descriptions in the published catalog. It returns up to ten ranked matches. To explore ideas inside a book’s notes, choose its ID and use chat_with_book.

Are these the complete books?

The service works with our published, structured book notes. It does not provide complete source-book texts. Answers reference notes you can open and inspect; a note citation is not a page reference to a particular edition.

Can I compare books or ask follow-up questions?

Yes, through your client. It can ask separate questions of several books and bring their perspectives together. For follow-ups, the client sends prior turns as history. The MCP server itself does not retain a conversation session.

Does this work with Claude on the web?

The setup recipes here use clients that support bearer-token authentication. Claude’s account-based web connectors use a different authentication flow. This service does not currently offer OAuth, so the existing endpoint is not a plug-and-play web connector.

What if I see an authentication or rate-limit error?

For a 401, check that your client sends the Authorization header with your current token. For a 429, wait before retrying. Current limits are 30 MCP requests and 10 book-chat requests per minute per client IP; clients on a shared network may share those limits.
